TRANS-SOLENT

There are a variety of crossings, but visitors from London are most likely to use the Portsmouth/Southsea to Ryde routes. Those travelling by train will be using the Wightlink Fast Cat service and those bringing a car over to the Island will use the Wightlink service from Portsmouth to Fishbourne.

Those travelling by car but leaving it on the mainland will find the Hovertravel service convenient as there are good parking facilities very near the Southsea Hoverterminal.

Those coming from the West can take either the Lymington to Yarmouth Wightlink service or the Red Funnel Southampton to Cowes route. The Red Funnel passenger service takes travellers into West Cowes, whereas the Red Funnel car ferry service docks at East Cowes.
