At the risk of of winning the Seaview Prize for stating the bloomin' obvious, sailing involves wind and water! These two features, when combined, usually mean COLD!
True, there are likely to be some beautiful, warm, sunny days in the summer... but sadly these are usually counted on the fingers of one hand and Sod's Law dictates they are unlikely to be on the days you are sailing! So it is best to be
well prepared when you go out to sea. Waterproofs are
essential. Not a light, shower-proof kagoule, but a
proper sailing jacket. Waterproof trousers and boots are
also a requirement... and a proper pair of sailing gloves
should also be high on the list of priorities. |

The good news is the local shop, run by Jim Caws, has a good supply of essential sailing gear. A full set of jacket, trousers, boots and gloves should come to under £150... but prices, of course, will depend on your size. However, Jim doesn't have a bottomless supply of kit, so if you want to order something, it is best to give him some advance notice. Jim is happy to accept advance orders and this will save you time as he can have your merchandise ready when you arrive. If you contact him, could you say you found his phone number from this website, please! | |||
